本作の出来は肥前国陸奥守忠吉としては上々作にランクされる作品です。

体配:身幅、重ね尋常な反りやや深く切先が延びた体配の良い刀で
表に草の剣巻龍と独鈷を彫り裏には護摩箸と爪と梵字を彫る
地鉄:小板目肌実に良く詰んで地錵が付き綺麗な地金となる。
刃紋:錵出来、丁字乱れとなり足良く働き、刃中に小足、葉、砂流、
細やかな金筋が働き帽子丸く先、掃掛となり返りが深い

特徴:肥前国陸奥守忠吉はは肥前忠吉の3代銘に当たり二代忠広の嫡男で新三郎と称す、
万治3年(1660年)10月に陸奥大掾を受領。上々作、最上大業物、にランクされた肥前刀では最も
評価された刀工で制作本数が少なく又直刃出来がほとんどですが本作の如く丁字乱れの作品は
大変少ないと云われております。特に地金は肥前刀の中で最も優れた地金を制作し高い評価を受けております。

拵え:
鍔:鉄鍔に獅子の図を高彫りし金で色絵をほどこす。
鞘:黒石目地鞘に雲の図、金具を描く。鯉口と鐺は四分一金具。
縁頭:赤銅魚子地に獅子の図を高彫りし金、素銅で色絵をほどこす。
目貫:赤銅地に唐人の図を高彫りし金、素銅で色絵をほどこす。

葵美術より一言:滅多に出てこない忠吉3代 肥前国陸奥守忠吉の会心の作で目釘穴1っ個で長さもあり
体配の良い作品です。刀身に彫られた見事な彫りはどの彫り師になるのかは不明ですが
現在刀剣博物館の特別保存刀剣に合格しております。陸奥守忠吉はほとんどが
直刃出来ですが本作は珍しく丁字刃の傑作です。是非御薦めしたい作品といえます。

Katana in Shirasaya with Koshirae (NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Paper)

Signature :Hizen Kuni Mutu Kami Tadayoshi.  

Shinto:JyoJyo saku:Saijyo oowazamono cutting test ranking:Hizen.
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This sword belongs to Jyo Jyo saku ranking.

The blade was polished by high ranking polisher.
Habaki :Gold wrapped double habaki.
Blade length : 72.6 cm or  28.58inches. 
Sori :2,0cm or 0.79 inches. 
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi :2,96 cm or1.165  inches. 
Width at the Kissaki : 1.97 cm or 0.76 inches. 
Kasane : 0.72cm or  0.28inches.
Era : Edo period Manji era.
Shape : The blade is rather wide and thick with deep sori and longer kissaki nice looking shape.  
In the front, So style Kenmaki ryu and dokko are engraved and on the back side, Gomabashi, Bonji, Tsume are engraved.
Jigane :Koitame hada quite well grained with jinie attach and chikei work hizen Konuka hada.
Hamon :konie deki Cyoji midare hamon with small ashi and yo work and yo, chikei work.

Special feature:
 Tadayoshi the 3rd  was a great swordsmith who was ranked Shinto Jo-josaku, and Saijo-Owazamono.
He was a son of Tadahiro the 2nd, and he was called Shinsaburo.
He received Mutsu Daijo in October 1660.
And he received Mutsu no kami in August 1661.
He passed away earlier than his father Tadahiro, and so his blades are rare.
He was the most popular swordsmith in Hizen province.
Mutsu Kami Fujiwara Tadayoshi was a legitimate son of the Tadahiro who was called Shinzaburo 3rd generation Tadayoshi.
At Manji 3rd year November He got the tytle of the Mutsu Daijyo and at Kanbun first year August, he changed his tytle to Mutsu Kami.
He passed away Teikyo 3rd February.
He made many swords for 2nd generation Tadahiro so he left a few swords even though his high ranking sword maker.
Many sword collectors wants to buy his swords but very hard to buy because we can find small amount of swords for sale.
This sword is quite well wonderful Jigane and also nice Hamon.

Koshirae:
Tsuba: Iron Tsuba, Shishi dog is engraved with gold color.
Saya: Black Ishime-Ji Saya with clouds and fitting design.
Koikuchi and Kojiri are Shibuichi fittings.
Fuchi Kashira: Shakudo Nanako, Shishi dogs are engraved with gold and copper color.
Menuki: Shakudo, foreigner is engraved with gold and copper color.

From Aoi-Art:3rd generation Mutsu Kami Tadayoshi is the top ranking sword maker in Hizen to.   
He made wonderful jigane in Hizen-to and made suguha hamon mainly but sometimes he made cyoji midare hamon.
On the Jigane, nice horimono are engraved So(simple ) style Kenmaki ryu(a dragon is swallowing a Ken and wring a Ken's body.
It is difficult to who made this engraving but high skill Horimono.
The balde passed NBTHK Tokubetsu hozon paper already.
We recommend this precious high ranking and most cut well sword.
